August: Osage County (2013)

Well, a dis functional movie about a VERY dis functional family.

Three daughters return home to there parents rural Ohio home when there alcoholic father goes missing and they have to confront there drug addicted mother who is battling mouth cancer. It turns out that the dad committed suicide after a letter he left that the mom reveals after the funeral. One daughter is trying to hide that fact that she is separated, the other one is engaged to a man much older than her and the third has a secret relationship with her 1st cousin who turns out to be her half brother.

The movie has lots of twists and turns with a mostly well-known cast. I recommend this movie but it is not for kids. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Starring Meryl Streep (The Giver, The Homesman) as Violet Weston, Julia Roberts (Mirror Mirror, Larry Crowne) as Barbara Weston, Chris Cooper (The Company You Keep, The Muppets) as Charlie Aiken, Ewan McGregor (A Million Ways to Die in the West, Jack the Giant Slayer) as Bill Fordham, Margo Martindale (Heaven Is for Real, Bluebird) as Mattie Fae Aiken, Sam Shepard (Cold in July, Savannah) as Beverly Weston, Dermont Mulroney (Space Warriors, Jobs) as Steve Huberbrecht, Julianne Nicholson (Keep the Lights On, Shadows & Lies) as Ivy Weston, Juliette Lewis (Kelly & Cal, Hellion) as Karen Weston, Abigail Breslin (Perfect Sisters, Ender' s Game) as Jean Fordham, Benedict Cumberbatch (Cristiano Ronaldo: World at His Feet, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as Little Charles Aiken and Misty Upham (Without Fire, Jimmy P.) as Johnna Monevata.
