Admission (2013)

An admissions advisor at Princeton University is reviewing potential applicants for admissions when one child stands out. When she gets a tip that he might be the son she gave up for adoption she decides to fight for him to get accepted. She starts to develop a strange relationship with a teacher at this child's school but she tries to end it when she realises it' s a conflict of interest.

This is a great comedy with a great cast. This is a great family movie and I give it a 5 out of 5.

Starring Tina Fey (Mean Girls, 30 Rock) as Portia Nathan, Gloria Reuben (Lincoln, Time Cop) as Corrine, Paul Rudd (Role Models, Knocked Up) as John Pressman and Wallace Shawn (Toy Story movies, The Princess Bride) as Clarence.





The Host (2013)

An alien race has invaded earth and taken over human bodies one by one. A group of survivors tries and fight to stay alive. In the end the bodies are saved and an aliens is formed between the humans and a few on the hosts.

This is a movie based on the book of the same name from Stephanie Meyer. I was not too impressed by this movie and give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Jack Reacher (2012)

A former military investigator with no known history, gets pulled into an investigation of a former military partner that went on a killing spree. He has a distinct way of doing his investigations, and proves to be very valuable.

This is a great action movie, and one of Tom Cruises better films. I definitely recommend this movie and I give it 5 out of 5.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

A young man who's parents died when he was young gets bitten by a spider in a lab that has special powers and senses. He develops those same characteristics and when his uncle is killed by a robber, he decides to use his new found abilities to get back at that robber and to help others.

This is yet another re-make of the making a Spider man, and the only difference really is a different cast and only a little of the story is different.

I give this movie a 4 out of 5.

Broken City (2013)

A Mayor running for re-election hires an ex-cop turned private detective with a shady service history who after loosing his girlfriend gets involved with the wrong people and tries to prove his guilt. He spies on the Mayors wife to prove he is cheating on him but the result is very different from what he expected.

This is a great dramatic movie. I give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Stand Off (2011)

An American goes to Ireland and watches his cousins antique shop for a while, when he comes across a fish market robbery gone bad. This movie shows the intertwined lives of several people and how they are affected. It turns out that the American is fleeing his wives gangster father and the local police are trying to uncover his involvement in the fish market robbery.

This is a funny movie and is great to see with the family. I give this movie a 4 out of 5.

Deja Vu (2006)

An A.T.F agent gets called in for a terrorist attack in New Orleans. An explosion kills hundreds of people, and the agent needs to find out who did it. Using a new tool, the FBI can see into the past to see who did it and they track down the killer. This is a great movie with a well known cast.

I give it a 4 out of 5.

The Big Wedding (2013)

This is a great comedy movie about a long time divorced couple who has to fake being married for there adopted sons biological mom who is very traditional. There are lots of twists and turns, and surprising reveals just before the ceremony. But, even the mom has some skeletons of her own.

This is an all star cast movie and filled with many laughs. There is brief nudity so adult supervision is recommended. I give this movie a 5 out of 5.

Olympus Has Fallen (2013)

A former presidential guard who was involved with the death of the first lady joins the service again when the U.S. capital is attacked by North Korean operatives. He has to try and rescue the President and his son before 3 nuclear access keys are given under duress and we are under attack.

This is a great action movie and I recommend it, but it is not for kids. I give it a 5 out of 5.

G.I. Jane (1997)

This is a movie about how women were limited in the roles they could take in the military. They were not allowed to be in combat, and it was thought to be because of a weaker ability.

The female character in this movie is known as "Jane" and she proves that women can be deployed just like men. This is a great movie about what women have dealt with for years.

I give this movie a 5 out of 5.

Mom and Dad Save the World (1992)

The Emperor of a far away world Tod Spango unveils a death ray he will use on earth, but first he will use a giant magnet to attract a women he wants to marry. He uses it to draw in a women and her husband in there station wagon so he can marry her. But once they arrive, things don't go as he planned and the husband fights back.

This is a great comedy movie of the 90' s with a great cast. Great family movie, and I give this movie a 4.5 out of 5.

Stay (2005)

This is a movie about a psychiatrist who is trying to help prevent one of his patients from committing suicide. But at the same time he is trying to keep himself from losing it while helping his girlfriend from falling back into her rut.

This is a confusing movie and hard to follow. I give this movie a 3.5 out of 5.

The Impossible (2012)

This is a true story, based on actual events.

This movie shows one families experiences in the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia. It is a very moving and dramatic movie. It is not advisable for children to watch.

I give this movie a 5 out of 5.

Starring Naomi Watts (King Kong, The Ring) as Maria, Ewan McGregor (Star Wars Episodes I, II & III, Big Fish) as Henry, Tom Holland (The Secret World of Arrietty, Los Goya) as Lucas, introducing Samuel Joslin as Thomas and Oaklee Pedergast (Wer, Casualty) as Simon.

 
 

Ultraviolet (2006)

In the future there is an infection in the blood of people and only some have the anecdote. Specifically a young boy who is the 6th clone of 9 for the leader. A hemophage tries to save him because he has the anecdote so she can save everyone else. This movie is based on a comic and feels similar to the Resident Evil movies and stars the same actress.

This is an action sci-fi movie but is not for children.

I give this movie a 4 out of 5.

Starring Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil movies, The Fifth Element) as Violet Son Jat Shariff, Cameron Bright (Twilight movies, Juno) as Six, Nick Chinlund (Con Air, Training Day) as Ferdinand Daxus and Sebastien Andrieu (Look at Me) as Nerva.


 
 

Ghostbusters II (1989)

The Ghostbusters return to find a flowing river of slime under the city of New York leading to an Art museum where Dana Barrett works. A large painting of Vigo comes to life and posses the curator and chargers him with finding a child by the new year so he can once again roam the earth and causing mass destruction, pain and suffering. It all culminates when the Ghostbusters try to save Dana and her baby.

If you liked the 1st Ghostbusters movie you will love this one. Also, stay tuned and Ghostbusters III has been announced to be release in 2014 or 2015.

Starring Rick Moranis (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Spaceballs) as Louis Tully, Ernie Hudson (Oz, The Crow) as Winston Zeddemore, Annie Potts (Designing Women, Toy Story) as Janine Melnitz and Peter MacNicol (Bean, Battleship) as Dr. Janosz Poha.






Ghostbusters (1984)

3 Psychology professors lose there University grant for paranormal research and are now in search of a new job. They realize the increase in ghostly activities and create the Ghostbusters to rid the city of them. One of them meets a women and gets involved with her but she turns out to be possessed by something in her apartment building. He and his fellow ghostbusters descend on her building to rid it of Gozor, and ancient evil being but have to fight off a giant stay puff marsh mellow man.

This is a great family movie and for anyone from the 80' s. I give this movie a 4.5 out of 5. Also, check out Ghostbusters 2.

Point Break (1991)

An FBI agent goes undercover with a group of wild surfers that are known for doing a summer bank robbery spree to finance there surfing adventure around the world. He gets too close infiltrating the group and risks blowing his cover for a girl. It' s a 90' s action movie with a great cast. It' s not a family movie.

I give this movie a 5 out of 5.

Starring The late Patrick Swayze (Ghost, Dirty Dancing) as Bodhi, Keanu Reeves (The Matrix movies, Speed) as Johnny Utah, Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) as Pappas and Lori Petty (Free Willy, Tank Girl) as Tyler.





Daylight (1996)

A tunnel collapses in New York city when trucks carrying hazmat cans crash in the tunnel and cause an explosion. A former EMT who was fired for wrongful death incident, volunteers to go attempt to rescue the stranded commuters. It' s an uphill battle to get everyone out in time, but not everyone makes it out.

This is a good movie, I give it a 4 out of 5.

Starring Sylvester Stallone (Rocky movies, Cliffhanger) as Kit Latura, Amy Brenneman (Heat, 88 Minutes) as Madelyne Thompson, Viggo Mortensen (A History of Violence, The Road) as Roy Nord and Dan Hedaya (The Usual Suspects, Commando) as Frank Kraft.

Howard the Duck (1986)

A human like duck from another planet gets caught by a laser and transported to Cleveland Ohio in his arm chair and after meeting a beautiful women, she tries to help him get back to his planet. A scientist friend of hers discovers how he got here and tries to help him get back but with a complication with the laser he might have trouble getting back.

This was a great movie when I was a kid and is a great family movie. I give this movie a 5 out of 5.

The Jacket (2005)

A Gulf war vet is pronounced dead from a head shot only to come back to life. When he returns to Vermont he helps a stranded motorist and her daughter, but gets accused of murder and thrown into a mental hospital.

During treatments he starts to remember what happened to him. It is a very confusion movie and kind of hard to understand. I would give this movie a 3.5 out of 5.

The Ladykillers (2004)

This is a comedy about a southern professor who recruits a crew on criminals to dig into a casino vault and rob it. First, he needs to rent a room from an old lady who has a house close to the casino, then he and his crew start secretly digging through her basement towards the vault. They operate under the disguise of an old school band.

It' s a pretty funny movie, and a surprising role to see Tom Hanks in. I recommend seeing this movie and I give it a 4.5 out of 5.

This is not a movie for kids as it has adult language.
