R.I.P.D. (2013)

Well, I was disappointed in this movie.....

It seems like a lame effort to try and make a movie like the Men In Black series.

This movie is about a crooked cop who' s partner turns on him when he wants to return gold that they stole and hid. His partner kills him and because he was a bad cop he gets recruited by the R.I.P.D., a place where those that are killed can redeem themselves through service before they go for judgement. It is an action movie and has some descent special effects with a good cast, it just didn' t turn out to be a good movie.

I give this movie a 3.5 out of 5 and do not recommend it for children.

Starring Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski, TRON: Legacy) as Roy, Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, Buried) as Nick, Kevin Bacon (Apollo 13, Sleepers) as Hayes, Mary-Louise Parker (Red, Weeds) as Proctor, Stephanie Szostak (Iron Man 3, Dinner for Schmucks) as Julia and intriducing super model Marisa Miller as Roy's Avatar.

Captain Phillips (2013)

This is a true story about Captain Richard Phillips as the captain of the MV Maersk Alabama and how there ship was hijacked by Somali Pirates and were held for ransom. In the movie it shows how the pirates planned there route and how they would take over the ship.

In the ocean, Captain Phillips noticed two ships speeding up behind his ship and he tries to evade them by maneuvering in the water and using water canons to ward them off. But when that proved to not work, he orders his crew to hide in the bottom of the engine room and not to leave until helped arrived. As the pirates boarded the ship he called for help and was taken hostage in a small rescue vessel until he was rescued by Navy Seals.

This is yet another great movie with Tom Hanks. I recommend this movie to everyone and give it a 5 out of 5.

Starring Tom Hanks (The Da Vinci Code, Forest Gump) as Captain Richard Phillips, Catherine Keener (Into the Wild, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) as Andrea Phillips, introducing Barkhad Abdi as Muse and Michael Chernus (The Bourne Legacy, Men in Black 3) as Shane Murphy.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

This is the second movie in the series based from the books written by Suzanne Collins.

After Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mallark return home from winning the last hunger games they are pulled back into do a publicity tour of the other districts who lost competitors. But when President Snow throws a wrench in the mix and has them put back in for the reaping and they are called again to fight for the district they fake an engagement to try and get out of it.

Once they begin training once again they for alliances with other teams to help them survive. This movie is real interesting on some of the effects used and in the story line and how they fight back.
If you liked the first Hunger Games movie you will enjoy this one.

I recommend this movie and give it a 5 out of 5.

Starring Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook) as Katniss Everdeen, Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games, The Expendables 2) as Gale Hawthorne, Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games, Zombieland) as Haymitch Abernathy, Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games, Bride to Terabithia) as Peeta Mallark, Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games, The Italian Job) as President Snow and Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, The 40 Year-Old Virgin) as Effie Trinket.

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013)

This is the latest movie for the popular group Jackass. Johnny Knoxville stars as 86 year old Irving Zisman who just lost his wife. At the funeral his daughter drops his 8 year old grandson Billy, off with him because she has to spend time in prison. Being that he is "grieving", he dosn' t want the kid around so he agrees to take him to his dad.

Along the journey, we see many of the shenanigans that Jackass is famous for. He grows attached to his grandson and when he sees the boys dad, he decides to keep him instead.

This movie is hilarious. If you love the Jackass movies, you will love this movie. It is not really for kids because of adult content. I give this movie a 5 out of 5.

Starring Johnny Knoxville (Jackass movies, The Last Stand) as Irving Zisman, Jackson Nicoll (The Fighter, Fun Size) as Billy, Greg Harris (Mr.Woodcock, Wristcutters: A Love Story) as Chuck, Georgina Cates (Clay Pigeons, Sinner) as Kimmie and Kamber Hejlik as Doctor.
